Waymond Bryant and Cid Edwards, the plaintiffs, were professional football players for the Chicago Bears. They brought a medical malpractice action against defendant Dr. Theodore A. Fox, an orthopedic surgeon retained by the Bears. They also brought an action against defendant Chicago Bears Football Club, Inc., under the theory of respondeat superior, based on an allegation that Dr. Fox was an employee of the Bears’.
