EARLS, Justice.
**658Here we are asked to decide whether a law enforcement officer's warrantless search of defendant's USB drive, following a prior search of the USB drive by a private individual, was permissible under the "private-search doctrine." The Court of Appeals concluded that the warrantless search violated defendant's Fourth Amendment rights and remanded to the trial court for a determination of whether there was probable cause for the issuance of a search warrant without the evidence obtained from the unlawful search.
