In October, A. D. 1883, William Blige was indicted in Hillsborough county for an assault with intent to commit murder. The indictment charges such assault to have been made by Blige upon one Samuel Ingraham, with an iron weight, which lie held in his hand, such weight being a deadly weapon. This indictment was filed on the 10th day of October. On the same day the attorneys for the defendant, Blige, caused a subpcena to be issued by the Clerk of the Circuit Court to Nixon Brown and Thomas Whitehead, commanding them to appear in Court on that day, to testify in behalf of the defendant.
