In 2006, appellant Michael McCardle was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Appellant was seventeen years old at the time of the offense. In 2016, in light of the United States Supreme Court's decision in Miller v. Alabama , 567 U.S. 460, 132 S.Ct. 2455, 183 L.Ed.2d 407 (2012), appellant's sentence was vacated and his case was remanded for resentencing.
