In this case we consider whether a complaint against the owners and operators of a convention center was properly dismissed under G. L. c. 231, § 59H. This statute, commonly known as the “anti-SLAPP” (“strategic litigation against public participation”) statute,4 is intended to protect the “exercise of the constitutional rights of freedom of speech and petition for the redress of grievances.” Duracraft Corp. v.
