About 1:15 a. m., February 19, 1939, in a bedroom of an apartment at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Frank I. Stump sh'ot his wife, Mary M. Stump, and then shot himself back of the right ear in the mastoid region. Mary M. Stump was rushed to a hospital but died at 2:10 a. m. that day. From the testimony of all of the numerous witnesses who were in the room of the tragedy immediately after the shooting, no indications of life in Mr. Stump were observed at any time.
