The issue of . negligence, made by the pleadings in this cause, was found by the referee in favor of the plaintiff. He found that the defendants were a corporation under the laws of this State, in July, 1871, and then were, and for a long time before had been, carriers for hire between the city of Hew York and the State of Hew Jersey, by means of steam ferry-boats from.
