This is an appeal from a summary judgment granted in favor of the City of DeRid-der, Louisiana. For the following reasons, we affirm the decision of the trial court.

FACTS

On April 9, 1995, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Winston Shepard joined into a game of pickup basketball at Northside Park in the City of DeRidder, Louisiana. During the course of the evening, he observed some drinking by other people in the area and became involved in a verbal altercation with another player.
