Appellant Jerry Ray Grinstead was convicted of murdering Joseph Cross. Grin-stead has raised claims of ineffective assistance of counsel in a petition for post-conviction relief. Among other points, he asserts that his counsel's performance was deficient by stipulating to the admission of hearsay statements made by a co-participant in the murder of Cross in exchange for the State's promise not to call that co-participant as a witness.
