William Johnson is serving sentences aggregating 50 years’ imprisonment for armed robbery, aggravated battery, and use of a weapon by a convicted felon. A jury in Illinois convicted him of these offenses following a trial at which one of his cousins, plus two employees of a McDonald’s restaurant, testified that he entered the restaurant with a sawed-off shotgun and robbed the cash registers, shooting and injuring one of the employees in the process.
