The State timely appeals (145 Ill. 2d R. 604(a)(1)) from the trial court’s order of July 10, 1996, granting the motion of defendant, Jeffrey R Drake, to quash arrest and suppress evidence. The State filed a certificate of impairment. Defendant was indicted for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon (720 ILCS 5/24 — 1.1(a) (West 1994)), unlawful possession of cannabis (more than 30 but not more than 500 grams) (720 ILCS 550/4(d) (West 1994)), and possession of a firearm without having in his possession a firearm owner’s identification card (430 ILCS 65/2(a) (West 1994)).
