BEAM, Circuit Judge.
Darrell Chandler, Jr., appeals from the judgment of the district court 1 denying his petition for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. § 2254 (1988). The district court adopted the report and recommendation of the magistrate judge. 2 Chandler asserts . that the district court erred in denying his ineffective assistance of counsel claims and in failing to hold an evidentiary hearing before addressing the ineffectiveness claims. We affirm.
