This is the most gruesome case ever before me. At twelve-thirteen A.M. on September 19th, 1935, the police headquarters telephone operator in Newark received a call and heard a voice say, "I have just killed three men at 938 South Twentieth street, come and get me," or words to that effect. Within seven minutes a half-score of policemen, detectives and physicians were breaking down the door of a second floor apartment at that address, where they found four men shot to death.
