Under some circumstances, convicted felons in Illinois may serve their sentences in the “Impact Incarceration” Program, an alternative to prison styled after the familiar military basic training program, or “boot camp,” incorporating physical labor, military formation and drills, regimented activities, uniform dress and appearance, as well as education and counseling. 730 ILCS 5/5-8-1.1.
