The evidence offered for the plaintiff in this case showed that in June, 1899, Mr. Curtis, who was then in the employ of the Maryland Casualty Company in Chicago, visited St. Louis on business, and called on a friend, a Mr. Clardy, with whom he had been intimately acquainted for some years. Clardy and Mr. Curtis three years before had both resided in St. Louis and been connected with the same Casualty Insurance Company in different capacities.
