Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Richmond County (Rooney, J.), rendered October 27, 2006, convicting him of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, upon a jury verdict, and imposing sentence.

Ordered that the judgment is affirmed.

The Supreme Court providently exercised its discretion in precluding the defendant from calling a witness at trial to present certain evidence since the only purpose of the evidence *965would have been to impeach the credibility of the arresting police officers on a collateral matter (see People v Alvino, 71 NY2d 233, 247-248…
