The defendant, Gregory Madej, was indicted in the circuit court of Cook County on one count for the murder of Barbara Doyle (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1(a)(1)), and on three counts of felony murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1(a)(3)) predicated on the felonies of armed robbery (Ill. Rev.
