These cases are an aftermath of the case of The State of Kansas v. Don Van Wormer, who was convicted in the district court of Hamilton county of murder in the first degree and appealed from the judgment. One of the signers on his appeal bond was Tom Brown, who resides in Ford county. Upon the affirmance of the judgment (The State v. Van Wormer, 103 Kan. 309, 173 Pac. 1076, 180 Pac. 450), Van Wormer disappeared and has ever since been a fugitive from justice.
