This was an action brought to the superior court in Fair-field county, by Elijah Middlebrooks of Trumbull in that county, against The Springfield Fire Insurance Company. This is an action brought, by writ of summons, against The Springfield Fire Insurance Company, a corporation, incorporated by the legislature of Massachusetts, in which the writ was served by the officer, to whom the same was directed, leaving an attested copy thereof, at Bridgeport, in this state, with the secretary of said corporation, who was then casually there, but whose residence was at Springfield in Massachusetts.
