HUMPHREYS, Judge.

Mario Lamar Turner (“Turner”) was convicted in a bench trial in the Circuit Court of the City of Newport News (“circuit court”) of aggravated malicious wounding, in violation of Code § 18.2-51.2, and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, in violation of Code § 18.2-53.1. Turner was sentenced to forty years in prison with thirty-three years suspended for aggravated malicious wounding, and to three years in prison for use of a firearm.
