REAVLEY, Circuit Judge:

Two pedophilic priests of the Diocese of Lafayette 1 molested thirty-one children over a period of seven years, prompting a spate of claims from the children and their parents. The Diocese and its insurance carriers, unable to compromise on the allocation of loss under the “occurrence” policies, settled the claims against the Diocese with contributions on a pro rata basis (using years of coverage as a benchmark) and agreed to let a court decide their coverage dispute.
