The main cause is a proceeding for the winding up of the American Brick and Tile Company as an insolvent corporation. A receiver having been appointed, and sundry claims being presented to him by creditors of the company, and there being no assets other than the obligations of the subscribers to the capital stock for unpaid subscriptions, the receiver filed a petition praying that an order should be made directing assessments against the stockholders to the extent required for the satisfaction of the debts of the company.
