This case, involving a patent for an automobile rear-window defroster, presents two interesting questions of federal jurisdiction and one question of application of patent law. The case has a long and tortuous procedural history and is now before this Court for the second time. The suit originally was brought by appellees Interdynamics, Inc., and Smiths Industries, Limited (“Interdynamics”), alleging that appellant Trans Tech, Inc., had infringed a patent held by Interdynamics.
