Plaintiff appeals as of right from the circuit court’s order granting defendant’s motion for summary disposition pursuant to MCR 2.116(C)(7) on the grounds of res judicata. We affirm.

According to the parties, on April 9, 1983, plaintiff’s middle finger of her right hand was lacerated and broken in an automobile accident, in which defendant was the owner and driver of the other vehicle. Treatment of the injury was unsuccessful, and on April 10, 1984, plaintiff underwent surgery to excise a bone fragment from the metacarpophalangeal joint.
