Mary F. McAdory, the plaintiff, a black woman, originally instituted this suit as a class action pursuant to both Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 42 U.S.C. § 1981, the Civil Rights Act of 1866, against Scientific Research Instruments, Inc. (SRI), of Baltimore, Maryland.
