Plaintiff in error was convicted in the criminal court of Cook county on the first count of an indictment charging him with having obtained from Martha Jansen, on September 24, 1913, $1900 in lawful money by means and by use of the confidence game. The verdict of the jury was rendered on September 20, 1916, and the cause was continued from time to time, pending motions for a new trial and in arrest of judgment, until November 3, 1917, when plaintiff in error by the judgment of the court was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence in…
