This action was -brought to recover damages ■for personal injuries sustained by the plaintiff in September, 1888, while in the employ of the defendants. At the time of the injury he was engaged in operating. a steam sausage-stuffing machine. The machine consists of a cylinder with i^two tubes in the bottom. Over it is a piston, having a head the size of the inside of the cylinder, which is operated with steam, the piston pressing down into the cylinder, forcing the meat out through the tubes and filling the cases in which it is confined and tied into links.
