Defendant-appellant Stanley Teitler (“Teitler”), an attorney, was retained by plaintiffs-appellees Rene Garcia (“Garcia”) and Carmen Vazquez Alvarez (“Alvarez”) (together “appellees”), who are husband and wife, to defend them in United States v. Benjamin Ramos, 03-Cr-1198 (E.D.N.Y.), against criminal charges that they participated in an international drug and money laundering conspiracy.
