The petitioner, Ronald M. Thompson, appeals from the judgment of the habeas court denying his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. The court granted the petition for certification to appeal. On appeal, the petitioner claims that the court improperly concluded that (1) he received effective assistance of counsel with regard to his conviction of two counts of *207failure to appear in the first degree and (2) he was not actually innocent regarding the failure to appear charges.
