OPINION

CONNOR, Justice.

Donald Loesche was indicted in April, 1978, for shooting with intent to kill, wound or maim. AS 11.15.150. After trial by jury, Loesche was convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon. AS 11.15.220. The defendant appeals this conviction, contending that the trial court erred in allowing his estranged wife to testify against him; that the court erred in refusing to allow testimony by the defendant and others concerning specific prior acts of violence committed by the victim; and that the court erred in refusing to give the jury an instruction on careless use of…
