On July 26, 1988, a jury sitting in the circuit court of Macon County found defendant Robert Shepard guilty of committing three acts of deceptive practices with a prior conviction in violation of section 17 — l(B)(d) of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Code) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 38, par. 17 — l(B)(d)). He was subsequently sentenced to three concurrent three-year terms of imprisonment.
