Following the shooting death of Sheila Williams, a jury found her boyfriend, Homer Allen Millen, Jr., guilty of voluntary manslaughter, battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Millen appeals, claiming that there was insufficient evidence to support the gun possession charge and that he received ineffective assistance of counsel. Because these claims lack merit, we affirm.

Viewed in the light most favorable to the jury verdict, the evidence showed that Williams lived at Millen’s house, along with three of her four children — her 19-year-old daughter,…
