The plaintiffs, African-American citizens of defendant City of Greensboro, Alabama, brought this lawsuit about twelve years ago, claiming.that the at-large system used by the city to elect its city council violated § 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended, 42 U.S.C.A. § 1973. This lawsuit is one of many § 2 voting-rights cases that have been before the court challenging at-large election systems across Alabama. 1 The cause is now before the court on the issue of attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses.
