Appellant here seeks a ruling directing allowance of patent claims principally predicated on his allegedly inventive discovery that the fibers of an obscure Mexican plant — the ixtle de lechuguilla plant — when admixed with cotton waste in certain specified portion, makes a superior filter for automobile oil and air conditioning fluids. Claims 20 to 24 inclusive of appellant’s application for a patent variously define a filter cartridge employing alternate layers of springy wire fabric and an intimately mingled mixture of cotton waste and ixtle fibers.
