¶ 1 Petitioner, Pernell Brown, who was found guilty of first degree murder and sentenced to 50 years' imprisonment, appeals from the Cook County circuit court's order denying him leave to file a successive pro se postconviction petition under the Post-Conviction Hearing Act (Act) ( 725 ILCS 5/122-1 et seq.
