POPE, Senior Appellate Judge.

Following a jury trial, Gerry Wendell Johnson was convicted on two counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The trial court merged the two counts of armed robbery for sentencing purposes. Johnson argues bn appeal that his conviction on aggravated assault should have also been merged into the armed i robbery conviction; that the trial court erroneously admitted similar , transaction evidence based upon hearsay testimony; and that his counsel rendered ineffective assistance.…
