BRIGHT, Circuit Judge.

Appellant William Minnis appeals a judgment of dismissal entered after a non-jury trial of his claim for damages against the defendant unions. 1 Minnis’ complaint charged the unions with breaching their duty of fair representation to him by failing to adequately prepare and present a grievance against his former employer, General Motors. 2 The principal issue raised on this appeal is whether the district court erred in denying Minnis’ timely demand for a jury trial.
