delivered the opinion of the Court.

A general court-martial composed of officer members convicted appellant, pursuant to his pleas, of wrongful use of cocaine, in violation of Article 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 912a. The court-martial sentenced appellant to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement for 179 days, forfeiture of $366.00 pay per month for 5 months, and reduction to the lowest enlisted grade. Pursuant to a pretrial agreement, the convening authority reduced the confinement to 5 months; he also reduced the monthly forfeitures to $249.00 but otherwise…
