The defendant appeals from his conviction of armed assault with intent to murder and unlawful carrying of a firearm. He argues that he was unfairly forced to go to trial, representing himself, in circumstances where a continuance should have been granted and counsel appointed. We conclude that there was no abuse of discretion in proceeding to trial on the day designated, with the defendant acting for himself.
