United States v. Paul Wheeler Madewell

Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit

Decided October 30, 1990No. 89-3700PublishedCited by 28 opinions

1Opinion of the Court

FLAUM, Circuit Judge.

Defendant Paul Madewell was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). The district court sentenced him to 41 months in prison. Madewell appeals his conviction contending that he is entitled to a new trial because his trial counsel afforded him constitutionally inadequate assistance. He also appeals his sentence on the ground that the district court erred in its interpretation and application of the Sentencing Guidelines. We affirm both Made-well’s conviction and sentence.
