Cecelia Lijoi sued for herself, and as next friend of the two children of the marriage, for loss of spousal and parental consortium. The consortium claim arose from a deterioration of relationships which followed upon a physical injury on June 23, 1971, to Ernesto Lijoi, the husband/father, occasioned, as the plaintiff alleged, by negligence of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).
