1 The petition alleged that Montgomery street, on which plaintiff was injured, is one of the principal streets in defendant city; that during the month of August, 1899, and for a number of months continuously prior thereto, defendant negligently allowed a dangerous place to exist in the sidewalk on said street; “that at the place last aforesaid there existed on the second day of August, A.
