Following a bench trial, defendant, Gregory Turner, was convicted of armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1988, ch. 38, par. 33A— 1(b)) and the first degree murder of S.T. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1988, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1), and was sentenced to a prison term of 30 years.
