**700 *870 I. NATURE OF CASE

The defendant appeals his convictions for possession of a controlled substance *871 and child abuse. The defendant was driving a vehicle owned by the defendant's girlfriend when he was stopped by law enforcement to investigate a citizen report of dangerous driving. The stop occurred at a gas station. The defendant's two young children were in the back seat of the vehicle.
