MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT

The case is a result of an explosion in a pipeline on a fixed platform in the Gulf of Mexico in September of 1975. The explosion killed three workmen who were near the pipeline on the fixed platform. It appears that the explosion was caused by a defective valve in the pipeline.

The families of the three workmen brought wrongful death suits. They sued the owner of the platform, the owner of the pipeline, and all those responsible for the manufacture and installation of the allegedly defective valve.1 All three suits were filed within one year…
