The appellant was convicted by a jury of theft of property, theft by receiving, and of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced as a habitual offender and received ten years on each charge to run consecutively. He was also found guilty of possessing a defaced firearm and was sentenced to one year in the county jail, to be served concurrently with the felony convictions. For his appeal, the appellant argues that the trial court erred in allowing the jury to hear evidence of all of his prior convictions during the guilt stage of the bifurcated trial. He…
