The case presented arises out of an automobile accident. It comes to the federal courts under our diversity jurisdiction. 1 On May 26, 1975, a tractor-trailer collided with a van carrying plaintiff, Robert J. Steele, and his family. Steele was rendered a paraplegic, his wife was killed, and his son was seriously injured. Three separate actions were filed for personal injuries and wrongful death.
