Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Suffolk County (Mullen, J.), rendered May 8, 1989, convicting him of assault in the first degree, upon a jury verdict, and imposing a sentence.

Ordered that the judgment is affirmed.

The defendant contends that the People failed to adduce *562sufficient proof to establish that he intended to cause serious physical injury to the victim. Viewing the evidence adduced at trial in a light most favorable to the People (see, People v Contes, 60 NY2d 620), we find that it was legally sufficient to establish the defendant’s guilt.
