This case, which we transferred to this court on our own motion, raises issues similar to those decided in Commonwealth v. Lopez, ante 657 (1998). We examine whether the *668defendant’s convictions in the New Bedford Division of the District Court Department of various crimes should be vacated because, as the defendant asserts, the Commonwealth has not shown that the judge conducted a colloquy concerning his admissions to sufficient facts to warrant guilty findings and his right to claim de novo jury trials.
