The appellant, the Western Union Telegraph Company, was, on and prior to the 19th day of January, 1881, a corporation organized under the laws of. this State, • and its capital stock was $41,073,410, divided into shares of $100 each ; at the same date the Atlantic and Pacific Telegraph Company was a corporation organized under the laws of this State, and its authorized capital consisted of one hundred and fifty thousand shares of $100 each, of which only one hundred and forty thousand shares had been issued and were outstanding; and the American Union Telegraph Company was also a corporation…
